That\u2019s down from half who felt that way in 1972, when the general social survey first asked the question. Almost two-thirds of the poll respondents said \u201cyou can\u2019t be too careful\u201d in dealing with people.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h5>Why does this decline in trust matter?
